Self-centering planet gears ensure a symmetrical force distribution

A planetary motor is a machine with multiple, interlocking planetary gears. The output torque is inversely proportional to the diameters of the planets, and the transmission size has no bearing on the output torque. A torsional stress analysis of the retaining structure for this type of motor found a maximum shear stress of 64 MPa, which is equivalent to a safety factor of 3.1 for 6061 aluminum.
